With just one week to go until the launch of Pixie Lott’s exclusive Lipsy range, it seems that the fashion mags are just as excited as we are! Fashion editors have been piling praise on Pixie’s design efforts, as well as getting under the style skin of Miss Lott herself.

Introducing the range in Look magazine, editor Ali Hall called Pixie’s line “as catchy as her songs”.

The high-street fashion bible went on to pick out Pixie’s maxi dress, party range, denim shorts and a couple of cute sun dresses as its favourite pieces, writing: “The floral frocks and bleached denim are perfect for layering up and make a cute capsule camping wardrobe”.

More!’s executive style director Sophie Stevens was also taken with the peacock-embellished denim pieces, saying that “the Festival collection has all the key looks”.

“It’s the perfect boho and rock mix, which is Pixie all over,” she said. “In contrast, her party collection is very girly glam with sexy animal prints – but it still has the signature rock edge Pixie’s known for.”

Pixie told the magazine that she took a hands-on role in the design process, even bringing in her mum’s vintage white dress and copying it for one of the pieces. She also named Sienna Miller and Alexa Chung as her style icons, saying: “They always look really cool and I like their understated glamour.”

How to test nail polish colours and find the right one for your skin tone

Before you step foot into a store or salon to make your next nail polish purchase, why not test different colours with your skin tone from the comfort of your home?

OPI has a great tool on their website that allows you to select your skin tone and then virtually “apply” any one of their nail colours. There are five skin tone shades to choose from, but the range is wide as the fairest shade would be a good match for skin tones like Lily Cole’s and the darkest shade would be a good match for skin tones like Alek Wek’s.

From the comfort of home, here’s how to test nail polish colours:

1. Go to the OPI Studio.
2. Select the skin shade that is closest to yours.
3. Browse through the nail polish colours to see which you would like to try.
4. Scroll over or click on the colour(s) you are interested in.
5. The colour will be “applied” to the nails of the hand on the screen.

But if you do end up in the store before you’ve checked out the OPI site, you can still test out colours and avoid leaving with multi-coloured nails.

In-store, here’s how to test nail polish colours:

1. Apply a wide, clear piece of tape to the back of your hand (packing tape works well).
2. Test out the colours you are interested in on the piece of tape. Because it is clear, it will easily allow you to see the true colour of the polish and how it looks against your skin tone.
3. When you are finished and have chosen the shade that is just right, simply peel the piece of tape off and discard!
